FIREWOOD FOR SIX FAMILIES

Action "firewood for socially-disadvantaged Palilula families`` is also continuing this week. Milan Djurdjevic, president of Palilula Municipal Assembly and a member of the Municipal Council Milos Stojkovic, visited the villages of Donje Medjurovo I Bubanj village. They donated 18 meters of firewood. Four families got firewood in Gornje Medjurovo village.Snezana Pavlovic, 48, a single mother, living with her son,17. She is unemployed and from financial benefit has the revenue in the amount of 6,000 dinars, and children's allowance in the amount of 2,500 dinars. There are debts for electricity, water and other utilities. She has been operated of tumor.

Biljana Stamenkovic is a mother of two children. She and her husband Goran are unemployed. Goran lost his job in the privatization process three years ago. They live from child benefit money, which is 4,000 dinars. They owe for electricity, water and other utilities. And this family is not beneficiary of social assistance. Family of Dragan Bajramovic is without income and other social assistance. This four-member household educates children in very difficult financial conditions. They live from the children's allowance in the amount of 2,000 dinars. They have no water connection.

A three-member family of Dusan R. Mikic recently got a new baby. Now there are four. They are no social welfare beneficiaries. They are all unemployed, having debts for electricity, water and other utilities. Palilula help in firewood at this time means a lot to them.Three meters of firewood also were included for two households in Bubanj village. Smilja Todorovic, 70. She lives alone since her husband died in 2001. Knee surgery is expected. She lives of pension of about 6,000 dinars. She has two married daughters but only one visits her mother. Budimka Stojanovic, an old woman, over 80 years old, living with her daughter who is 50 years old. They have no income. This assistance will facilitate them in firewood for the upcoming winter days.

According to Milan Djurdjevic, during the project "Strengthening of municipal capacities to improve the quality of life of vulnerable social groups" from "Exchange 3", which was successfully implemented in Palilula Municipality, 4908 vulnerable residents of the municipality received free assistance of experts, doctors, sociologists, psychologists, lawyers and caretakers. As the donor of this program did not provide the sustainability of the project, the management announced that the municipality shall, within their authorities, the Municipality will continue to care for vulnerable residents. `Free firewood, said Milan Djurdjevic, for 50 vulnerable households of Palilula is another in a series of activities to support families who have been not included in other types of social assistance`.
